Noise Records as a label on releases can be found in early to mid 1980s and from 1997 onwards. Founded by Karl-Ulrich Walterbach in 1983 as an expansion of his company Modern Music Records GmbH. It was sold to Sanctuary Records Group Ltd. in 2001 and ceased all activity in 2007 due to the bankruptcy of Sanctuary. Then in February 2013 BMG Rights Management signed an agreement to purchase the Sanctuary Records catalog from Universal.
