Miles Davis' often overlooked masterpiece Miles in the Sky is his venture into the jazz-rock, which later became known as fusion. While working together with his second great quintet his interest in the usage of electric instruments was increasing every day.

Live-Evil (1970) by Miles Davis is a double live album which features different settings of Miles Davis' bands.One of such recordings is of a 1970 gig at the Cellar Door, which featured a band comprised of Miles, bassist Michael Henderson, drummer Jack DeJohnette, guitarist John McLaughlin, saxophonist Gary Barts, and Keith Jarrett. The group is groovy, fast, and funky.

The double live album Dark Magus was recorded on March 30, 1974, at Carnegie Hall in New York City.Dark Magus was released after Davis' 1975 retirement. After releasing the live recordings Agharta (1975) and Pangaea (1976), Dark Magus was originally only released in Japan.

Hold It Down can be seen as the rebirth of Das EFX. The American hip-hop duo worked together with acclaimed producers as DJ Premier and Pete Rock. It is an uncompromisingly and raw album, where Das EFX changed their style to one with harder edges.
