Back in 1977, the LP Point Of Know Return marked the commercial peak of Kansas. The Progressive Rock band had experienced tremendous success with their previous release (1976's Leftoverture) and were no longer starving for a hit, yet the sessions for their fifth album were tense. Steve Walsh briefly left the group in the middle of these sessions. Nevertheless, the LP turned out an even bigger success for the band than its predecessor.

Morphine is an alternative rock band formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1989. Their debut album Good was released in 1992. The band's instrumentation was slightly unusual for a rock band. It created a jazz and blues infused rock sound on Good and the other Morphine albums.

The American rock/metal band Alter Bridge found their way to a worldwide audience by releasing their debut album One Day Remains in 2004. In 2010 they released their third album AB III, a new venture in which they combined progressive metal and hard rock
